As one of the few classical Hatha and Sivananda yoga teachers in Canada, I created and founded Body Mind Light to be a treasure trove of inspiration, knowledge and guidance about the traditional practice of Yoga.
This ancient discipline is not only a part of my Indian roots, but has been an indispensable influence on my well-being since childhood. I am certified from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in India, where continued lifelong learning is a fundamental attribute of being a yogi. Furthermore, I have been fortunate enough to live and teach in several countries around the world including Indonesia, Thailand, the Maldives, India, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
In my opinion, a yogic life is so much more than just the practice of physical postures. Other aspects such as mindfulness, breathing, diet, meditation, cleansing, energies and positive behaviors carry equal importance.
As an instructor, my approach to teaching revolves around each of my student’s individual energy, latent potential and higher power. I specifically focus on simplifying asana sequences and pranayama breathing techniques down to their essential elements. In addition, I consistently incorporate Vedic scriptures and Sanskrit mantras into the yogic experience.
I am based in Milton, Ontario and currently offer corporate classes and one-on-one in-home lessons throughout the GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, West Toronto and Milton itself. All my classes follow the Sivananda style, with modified flows for seniors, mothers-to-be and those with special needs.
I feel incredibly blessed to be sharing these gifts of authentic Hatha Yoga with the world and I look forward to enjoying them with you.
